As the CEO of MCD, Mr. Al Abri adds value through re-engineering MCD services, which are key to providing essential backbone for seamless and trusted financial transactions. In addition, he continues to build capabilities in the capital market that are conducive to investors’ trust.
He has a strong track record of building and leading teams, and a demonstrated keenness of ensuring commercial growth and value. By the dint of his diverse experience in legal and regulatory framework, as well as leading major securities issuances and capital raising programs, he is well positioned to lead MCD to realizing its mission and vision.
Empowered with IMD-thinking and planning skills and HBS-practical skills, he seeks to rethink MCD’s enterprise-wide strategic possibilities, and manage effective implementation for the MCD aided by his solid networks and relationships across the sector.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Mr. Al Abri held several positions in the public and private sectors. The most prominent and recent was the Vice President of the Capital Market Sector at the Capital Market Authority. He rose through the ranks by the dint of operational excellence and success. He also served as the VP for Business Development at the Al Hosn Investment SAOC. His roles included inter alia sourcing investment opportunities, generating leads for new businesses and investment projects and conducting due diligence on new projects. Prior to that position, he worked as an economic researcher at the Muscat Securities Market. His main task was conducting research on movement of stock prices and analysis of trading patterns of brokers / major investors, and was heavily involved in automating the trading system.
ACADEMIC EDUCATION
Mr. Al Abri holds an LLM in Banking and Finance Law from Queen’s Mary, University of London, UK. He has also attended two executive programs at Harvard Business School in Advanced Management and Institute for Management Development (IMD), in Advanced Strategic Management. He graduated from Yarmouk University, Jordan, 1993-1997, with a Bachelor Degree in Economics.
