30th May 2024: Hellenic Energy Exchange and Cyprus Stock Exchange Forge Strategic Partnership on GOs

Friday, 31 May 2024

The Hellenic Energy Exchange (HEnEx) is pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Cyprus Stock Exchange on Thursday, 30 May 2024, at the Presidential Palace of Cyprus. This agreement aligns with our Strategic goals approved by the Board of Directors (BoD) at the end of 2023 for expanding our activities in the environmental markets and establishing ΗΕnEx as a leading energy exchange in Southeast Europe.

The MoU establishes a framework for cooperation between HEnEX and the Cyprus Stock Exchange for trading on the secondary market of Certificates of Guarantees of Origin (GOs) for electricity from renewable energy sources. This collaboration aims to enhance investments in renewables, support the green transition and market opportunities in the region. The partnership with the Cyprus Stock Exchange, a shareholder of the Hellenic Energy Exchange, is a step forward in achieving this goal.

Prior to the signing ceremony, the Board of Directors of HEnEx held its regular monthly meeting exceptionally at the offices of the Cyprus Stock Exchange in Nicosia. The signing event was attended by our BoD, the Deputy Minister to the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mrs. Irene Piki, and the Director of the Office of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Charalambos Charalambous.

The Hellenic Energy Exchange looks forward to a productive and impactful collaboration with the Cyprus Stock Exchange, advancing our mutual objectives and fostering sustainable growth in the energy sector.
