2006 – Year-end Analysis

Friday, 12 January 2007

The year 2006 turned out to be a very successful one for the Bulgarian Stock Exchange, although the total values of turnover and volume have registered a slight decrease as compared to the results in 2005 (there was no privatization through the Exchange in 2006), the regular trade in shares and bonds has increased significantly and the total market capitalization has almost doubled. Both indexes, the SOFIX and BG 40, went up 50% in 2006. Two successful IPOs and 46 capital increases were realized through the Exchange. All these developments had a positive effect on the revenues of the BSE, the investment intermediaries and the investors as a whole.
