2007 – Second quarter report

The market performance of Bulgarian Stock Exchange-Sofia for the first half of 2007 was very good. In comparison to the first half of 2006, the number of transactions increased by 105%, the traded volume by 31% and the total value traded – by 110%. The total market capitalization as of 30.06.2006 went up to BGN 20,777,353,087, which is a 109.57%-growth compared to the end of the 2nd quarter of 2006. The rise was conditioned not only by the higher prices but also by the numerous new issues listed on the Exchange (including capital increases). The indexes of BSE-Sofia also kept their upward trend. The SOFIX started the year at 1243.73 points to reach 1,411.61 as of the end of the 2nd quarter. The BG40 started the New Year 2007 at 200.63 points and its total growth for the first six months was 54.47%. In June BG40 surpassed the level of 300 points and reached the record value of 309.91 on 29.06.2007.
