Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange To Organize A conference titled: “Transformation To Public Companies: A Vision Toward the Future” – Next October

Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange has announced that it plans to hold its annual conference for the year 2015 under the title “Transformation to Public Companies: A Vision toward the Future”. The Conference will take place on Monday, October 26th this year under the auspices of His Excellency / Hamad Abdulla Al Shamsi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange.
The Conference shall consist of several main topics; the most important of which is the role of private companies and family institutions in reinforcing and promoting competition that can lead to the creation of an ideal and sustainable economic environment. Furthermore, the Conference shall focus on the tools and legislations required to support and reinforce this goal, as well as discuss the challenges that hinder the achievement of such goal.
A group of international as well as local speakers who specialize in economic and financial arena will take part in this event that sheds light on the pivotal role of private companies and family institutions in promoting competition pursuant to Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030. Notable participants include: Mr. / Daniel Gallagher, Commissioner of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Salem Khaza’leh, Former Minister of Industry and Trade in Jordan, Julian Macedo, Administrator at Barclays Bank of London, in addition to several speakers from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
The Conference will also bring together a number of private family companies and a variety of other entities concerned with the issue for the purpose of discussing the relevant best practices which leads to the achievement of sustainable economic development. The participants will also present and discuss topics related to the strategic pillars that influence the decisions of the concerned individuals in the private companies. They will also address the policies and studies required to devise solutions for the challenges that hinder the efforts of the management boards of these companies which desire to take the decision to transform from being private or family companies to public joint stock ones in the United Arab Emirates.
Moreover, the event’s sessions shall include a special session dedicated to the presentation of the Turkish experience model. The presentation will be delivered by Hussein Arkan, Former CEO of Istanbul Stock Exchange, and former CEO of the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE).
Mr. Rashed Al Baloushi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange, commented on the event which is due to take place on October 26th this year by saying that the many sustainable and responsible acts performed toward encouraging private and governmental companies to transform to public joint stock companies could be the most pressing issue that many UAE-based companies are facing these days. The importance of this is that it does not only enable these companies to be listed on the country’s securities exchanges, but it shall also helpliquidity into these companies which shall be, day after day, a major element in the sustainability of the Emirati economy’s well-being in the region.
Furthermore, Mr. Al Baloushi mentioned that Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange continuously works on creating a work environment that is based on best practices which leads to the reinforcement of the investment opportunities, and at the same time transform the government’s economic vision into a reality that benefits the UAE society as a whole.
He also added that the Conference will undoubtedly contribute to the efforts being made to raise awareness and explore innovative methods toward achieving a real change that can encourage an increase in positive work. This shall ultimately help support and increase the transformation rate of private, family or governmental companies into public joint stock ones, which in turn creates a more competent business community in the UAE.
It is worth mentioning here that this Conference will be the meeting place for a number of senior executives who represent the private, governmental and non-governmental companies and institutions as well as academic entities. Their aim will be to discuss the important trends that are taken toward encourage the transformation of these companies. This clearly indicates the significance of this event as an important platform that helps develop such partnerships and succeed in creating a sustainable future economy.
