BCSE Opens Global Money Week 2021 in Belarus

The Global Money Week takes place in Belarus, as well as around the world, on 22-28 March 2021 under the theme ‘Take care of yourself, take care of your money’ (focusing on digital literacy in the financial sector). The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development is the global coordinator for this youth finance awareness campaign.

The topic is chosen for a reason this year. Advanced digital technologies steadily enter our life and make it more comfortable. The rapid development of digital financial products and services, active interactions between financial institutions are taking place through the latest solutions and are moving from offline communications to a virtual online environment. These processes are accompanied by the emergence of new financial risks and raise up financial security issues. Knowing and following the basic rules of digital security can minimize the risk of being deceived by fraudsters who try to steal money using digital technologies.

Traditionally, the opening ceremony was held at the Belarusian Currency and Stock Exchange on March 22, 2021 at 10.00 by ringing a symbolic bell for financial literacy in the Republic of Belarus. This year, the online ceremony was organized under the support of the Belarusian Cloud Technologies (BeCloud) that provided an opportunity to organize the event on the base of the republican platform Cloud Video Conference IVA MCU. The BCSE Chairman of the Board Andrei Aukhimenia and the Head of the Financial Literacy Department of the Information and Public Relations Department of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus Yulia Sakovich addressed the children with welcoming speeches. Together with the National Bank, the BCSE annually organizes educational events aimed at popularizing the financial market in the Republic of Belarus. Today, young people have got acquainted with the securities, currency, derivatives and money markets, exchange instruments, remote exchange trading and banking services, possibilities of the Exchange Online system, rules of financial behavior and the main points of digital financial security.

For the first time, more than 50 schools, gymnasiums, colleges from different districts of the Republic of Belarus – from the capital to regional centers, agro-towns and villages, covering all regions of the country – took part in the opening ceremony of the Global Money Week.
