Borsa İstanbul: Equities Have Been The Best Performing Instrument

BIST 100 Index was the best performing investment instrument on the basis of the 2014 annual yields. The markets started the year with a high tension in the political arena and FED’s decision to end the bond-purchasing program. During early 2014, BIST Index wandered around 60 thousand points, seeing a low of 61 thousand 858. However, the picture changed following the local elections in March. The Index accelerated in the second quarter, and towards the end of the year, it exceeded 87 thousand points, coming close to a record. BIST 100 Index registered an all-time-high session close on the last day of 2014 and with a yield of 26.43%, was among the 5 best performing exchanges of the world.

With an increase by 26.43%, Borsa İstanbul ranks among the 5 best performing exchanges of 2014. The four best performers are respectively, Argentina with 59.13%; China with 52.87%; Egypt with 31:60%; and India with 29.89%.
