CSDI HOSTS EXPERTS MEETING WITH JAPAN INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION AGENCY (JICA)

Central Securities Depository of Iran (CSDI) and Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to reciprocate by sharing expertise and knowledge for the promotion of the Iranian Capital Market.

The main objective of the meeting which was held at the CSDI headquarters in the capital Tehran, was to review and validate the progress of the Iranian Capital Market interaction with that of the world.

During the meeting with JICA representatives in Tehran, CSDI President and CEO, Mr. Hossein Fahimi, reiterated the Depository’s resolve to maintain high quality and reach to the highest international standardsand take a proactive approach towards internationalization in a bid to make CSDI more robust and potentially more successful.

Mr. Fahimi further acknowledged that Iran sure values the support and assistance Japan continue to render by supplementing efforts to foster economic growth and development.

He, meanwhile, appreciated JICA for sharing cooperation chances and said that he would task related units to propose specific activities soon.

For his part, Iran JICA Chief Representative, Mr. Yukiharu Kobayashi, said, “There is need to add value to the available resources that Iran has, especially in the Capital Market.”

He said JICA would contribute to support Iran in the key areas so as to boost economic development and enter into constructive interaction with Japan Capital Market.

Kobayashi noted that the Agency would tap into Iran’s hidden potential by suggesting plans and help implement them in cooperation with Iranian officials.

The two sides, meanwhile, discussed inputs towards finalization and implementation of the Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) the CSDI has sealed with its peer entities worldwide, including one with Japan Securities Depository Center, Inc. (JASDEC) which is Japan’s central securities depository.

JICA is already proactively carrying out technical cooperation projects in Iran the fields of tourism, earthquake risk reduction, environment conservation, clean energy, infrastructure improvement and healthcare.
