Minister of Investment and International Cooperation and Minister of Public Affairs Opening the 10 th Annual Conference of the AFE held in Cairo Egypt

H.E. Dr. Sahar Nasr, Minister of Investment and International Cooperation, H.E. Hesham Tawfik
Minister of Public Affairs and Mr. Mohamed Farid Saleh, Executive Chairman of The Egyptian
Exchange gave their opening speeches starting the 10 th annual conference of the Arab Federation
of Exchanges held Under the Auspices of H.E. Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Egyptian Prime Minister
in Cairo-Egypt and hosted by EGX.
In her speech, H.E. Dr. Sahar Nasr congratulated EGX for hosting this event stating that the
Ministry of Investment is always working in cooperation with EGX to increase the volume of
investment in the Egyptian market adding that the Egyptian Government gives great importance
to the development of capital market at all levels.
H.E. Hisham Tawfik, Minister of Public Affairs said that the Ministry is in constant cooperation
with the Economic Ministerial Committee responsible for the governmental listing program
adding that the Egyptian Exchange shall welcome the first listing very soon this year. Tawfik
suggested the creation of an Arab Association for market members like The Egyptian Capital
Market Association focused on sharing experiences on how to develop Arabic exchanges and
increase their role in the development of the economy.
Mohamed Farid Saleh said that EGX is honored to chair the AFE, stating that we will draft a
comprehensive plan for communication and development of Arabic exchanges and increase its
role in the world’s economy. He said that the AFE members have to be ready for the
competition from the unregulated markets, supported by advanced technological applications.
Adding that overcoming obstacles and development require extensive communication efforts to
attract new segments of investors and especially youth for long term progressive savings. Farid
stated that working on the sustainable development is a key element for the success of the region.
During his speech, Dr. Fady Khalaf said that the Conference is no longer a regional event, but
turned out to be an international forum, aimed at creating a better environment for investment in
the region.
