Nazarbayev launched trading on Astana International Exchange

The launch ceremony took place in the Nur Alem pavilion of the capital city.
Trading with ordinary shares, as well as conditional trading with receipts of NAC KazAtomProm JSC have started. The solemn ceremony was attended by Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev.

“I declare the first trading on the AIFC Exchange open. Congratulations to all on this significant event, I wish you great success in your future work,” said the head of state.
Astana International Exchange (AIX) is part of a government plan to create a vast and deep capital market in Kazakhstan, which will contribute to the economic development of the country through access to affordable finance, and will also benefit KazAtomProm shareholders by ensuring a good demand for the company for the long term.
The AIFC Exchange was established in 2018 as part of the development of the Astana International Financial Center. AIX shareholders include the AIFC, Goldman Sachs, the Shanghai Stock Exchange, the Silk Road Foundation and NASDAQ, which also provides the AIX with a trading platform.
NAC KazAtomProm JSC is the world’s largest producer of uranium, which represents about 20% of the total primary uranium mining in 2017. KazAtomProm mines through its subsidiaries, joint ventures, and associates in 26 fields grouped into 13 mining assets located in Kazakhstan.
